BBC Children In Need Appeal
Dear parents,
As you might be aware it is Children in Need this Friday the 20th of November. The pupil council have been busy making arrangements to raise funds for this event.
Your child/children will need to bring 50p if they would care to dress up in Pudsey colours or as Pudsey himself. There will be other exciting fundraising activities during the day run by children in the school for example doughnut eating and pizza making. We suggest that everyone bring some extra money to take part in these (maybe £1 in total will be enough including the money to dress up).
Thank you for your support.
The Pupil Council Team
A great time was had by all, exploring history and dressing up as historic figures. We heartily recommend the SS Great Britain as a family destination. We’ve selected some of the photos from the day for you to enjoy.
We really hope that it will prove a valuable source of information to parents both existing and prospective and the local community.
We’re looking for great pictures of Oakridge School and the surrounding area to feature at the top of the site. We can have many photos and as visitors move around the site so the photo displayed will change. For the moment, we’ve selected a picture of Oakridge Park supplied by Jim Hamilton. Thank you Jim!
Look at the dimensions of the Image. The interesting bit of your photo needs to be cropped to give it the panoramic dimensions. If you think your photo is suitable, email it to webs...@oakridgeschool.org.uk and we’ll crop it accordingly. If you want to choose the best bits and crop your pictures yourself, the final image should be 980 pixels wide and 125 pixels high. We look forward to receiving many entries!
The other way you can get involved is by commenting on posts that have comments enabled. Please note that all posts are moderated so it may take a day or two for your comments to appear but all are welcome, pupils, parents, staff, governors, others from the community, we want to hear your thoughts!
Our 2009 SIAS Inspection Report has been published and may be downloaded from this site now.
In these pictures you can see our vegetable garden, the village green (our playground!) and our Friendship Bench. Why friendship bench? that’s where any child who perhaps isn’t as involved in some play as as much as they’d like to be can sit in the safe knowledge that other children will quickly come to them and offer company.
And here are a few more pictures from around Oakridge Village, just because we like them!
Poetry and DT days.
On behalf of all pupils and staff I would like to say a big thank you to all the parents and helpers who came into school at the end of last term to support some of the exciting events planned to enrich our curriculum. The pupils’ smiles during the week truly reflected their enjoyment of the specially organised activities.
Outdoor clothing.
As the weather gets colder we are rapidly reminded of why the village green is often described as “Little Siberia”. As such we would like to stress the importance that all pupils bringing suitable clothing to school so they can enjoy their outdoor playtimes fully. We request that you ensure that your child / children have a warm coat, gloves, hat and appropriate footwear in school everyday. In order to reduce the incidents of lost clothing we also request that all clothing be named clearly.
The Governing Body.
The Annual General Meeting of the Governing Body took place on Wednesday 16th September. The following key appointments were made;
Chair to the Governing Body – Mr Brian Cheeseman
Vice Chair – Mr Gareth Newton.
Clerk to Governing Body – Mr Peter Scott
I would like to take this opportunity to express on behalf of the whole school community our sincere thanks to Mary Fern who has stepped down from the post of Chair of Governors after 10 years of being in this role. Mary has been a governor for 25 years and will continue as the Local Authority representative of the Governing Body.
Her unreserved commitment to always placing pupils at the heart of school improvement has been a cornerstone throughout the school’s recent history. Her boundless energy and honesty have contributed in so many ways to the life of the school at the heart of its community. Continue reading 'Newsletter 3'»
Here are some pictures of Class 2 displays taken during the 2008/2009 year.
Please note that we have included the full size versions of these pictures so if you view as a slideshow or as individual images rather than the thumbnails below you may have to wait for a while on slower internet connections.
Kulchalee visited us and shared a variety of poems and African stories. The children in both key stages enjoyed taking part in these performances greatly.
