Success at the May Revels.

CONGRATULATIONS and a HUGE THANK YOU to all those involved in making the May Revels another winner. The full page article in the Stroud News and Journal this week reflects a wonderful event. It is fantastic to hear feedback that indicates just how much our pupils love the day. One quote heard remarked that the children look forward to it, “just like Christmas”. A pupil stated, “It was the best theme ever!”

Comments like these make all the planning, preparation, setting up, taking down and fundraising so worthwhile.

Please try to join us for a celebratory drink at the Butcher’s Arms on Thursday night at 8pm – all welcome.

The next OSA meeting will be on Thursday 4th June at 7.45pm at the school.

End of day procedures.

At the recent Governors’ meeting it was bought to our attention that concerns had been raised by local residents about traffic at the end of the school day.

In order to keep the safety of our children the main priority we would like to make a change to the end of day procedures. As of Thursday (tomorrow) all pupils will exit through the main door (the door used to enter the school in the morning). Pupils in Reception / Year 1 and Year 2 will still be asked to wait by the school building, just a little further down. They will be adapting their end of day routines to ensure they are ready to be collected promptly at 3.15pm. We hope this will help to ensure children are not on the corner of the main road, where visibility is reduced, until supervised by parents.

Your co-operation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Walk to School Week 2009 – 18th – 22nd May.

Next week is Gloucestershire “Walk to School Week”. Our school will be taking part in this initiative along with over 135 other schools across the county. We are very aware that there are a high percentage of our pupils who already walk to school every day and we aim to make this part of our celebrations. We plan to enter two local competitions, information about these are attached to this letter, and also run a daily “walking bus”.

This year the county focus of the event in on, “pupils and parents enjoying the social aspect of walking together on the journey to school”. Therefore, if it is usually difficult or indeed impossible for you to walk to school why not join us at 8.40am in the Butcher’s Arms car park and walk the last part of the journey to school. All families are welcome to join us on “the walking bus”. However, if it is too far a diversion from your regular journey, please arrive at school at the usual time.

With all best regards

Lisa Austin-Harrison
Headteacher.
