Newsletter 1 (Term 1 2009/10)
Welcome back everybody. It has been lovely to hear that in spite of the weather so many of you have had a superb summer break. We would like to extend an extra special mention to Bonnie, William, Jack, Tabitha and Ethan who join us this term.
Music Tuition.
Singing tuition starts on Monday 7th September for those pupils registered.
Music tuition for flute, keyboard, oboe and clarinet starts on Wednesday 9th September. There are still places available for KS2 sessions on Wednesdays. Please speak to Carolyn if your child would be interested in taking up this opportunity.
Guitar lessons will start on Tuesday 15th September. Once again there are places available for year 2 upwards, again please speak to Carolyn.
Staffing.
It has been lovely to welcome Mrs Warren back to the team this term. She will continue to teach Class 1 everyday except Monday when the class will be taught by Mrs Gray. We are delighted that she has been able to provide this continuity. This arrangement will stay in place until January when we expect Mrs Hayes to return from her maternity leave. In the New Year the class will be taught by Mrs Hayes on Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Warren on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
This year Ally Schofield also joins our team as midday supervisor.
SIAS inspection visit.
Following an Ofsted inspection all church schools receive a Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools. Our SIAS inspector will be with us next Tuesday 8th September. The focus of the day will be our Christian distinctiveness and teaching of religious education.
Reminders.
A new after school club will be starting on Thursdays from 17th Sept – 3rd Dec (10 weeks excluding half-term dates) from 4 -5 pm at Oakridge Village Hall. The focus is dance, drama and building confidence. For more information see the attached letter (intentionally not on web version of newsletter) from Guilia Boden.
This Saturday the Oakridge Village Show will be taking place at 2pm. We are delighted that Amelia and Holly have been asked to open the show and look forward to seeing you there.
PE and games.
All pupils will need their PE kit in school each Friday for the coaching sessions provided by Cheltenham Town. Class teachers request that class 1 bring or wear their PE kit on Wednesdays and Key Stage 2 on Tuesdays.
We kindly ask for you to ensure that all clothing is clearly named.
Experience Harvest.
Following on from the success of our Experience Christmas and Easter afternoons in church, we plan to run Experience Harvest this term. The success of this event relies on your valuable support. If you would like to be involved or find out more about the event please come and speak with me. I plan to hold a planning meeting in the next couple of weeks.
Kind regards
Lisa Austin-Harrison
