The Governing Body.
The Annual General Meeting of the Governing Body took place on Wednesday 16th September. The following key appointments were made;

Chair to the Governing Body – Mr Brian Cheeseman
Vice Chair – Mr Gareth Newton.
Clerk to Governing Body – Mr Peter Scott

I would like to take this opportunity to express on behalf of the whole school community our sincere thanks to Mary Fern who has stepped down from the post of Chair of Governors after 10 years of being in this role. Mary has been a governor for 25 years and will continue as the Local Authority representative of the Governing Body.
Her unreserved commitment to always placing pupils at the heart of school improvement has been a cornerstone throughout the school’s recent history. Her boundless energy and honesty have contributed in so many ways to the life of the school at the heart of its community.

Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools Report.
Please find attached to this letter the report from our recent inspection. The key findings and areas for development will now be included in our school development plan.
As discussed at the meeting last term, the key priorities from the school development plan will be shared with parents. Also included in this document will be suggestions with how we can all work together to continue to support further improvement. It is envisaged that this will be sent out next week when it has been shared with all Governors.

Harvest Service.

The Harvest Family Service will be taking place next Sunday 11th October at 9.30am in church. As usual the school looks forward to taking an active part. This includes collecting donations of food to give to local charities. After the service fresh produce will be sent to the Cotswold Care Hospice and dry goods to the Stroud Women’s Refuge to help the women stock their cupboards when they leave the refuse. A basket will be placed in the entrance hall for children to leave
their donations in. In order to help with the planning we would be most grateful if you could inform us if your child / children will be able to attend. Please complete the slip and return it to the office.

The Oakridge School Association.
Please find attached a letter from the Chair of the OSA.  The staff would like to express their gratitude to Mrs Jayne Davie who has stepped down from the role of Chair this year. Her hard work and dedication has resulted in some very exciting developments at the school. Her organisation of the school meals must rank as the best in the County.

Head Lice – a reminder.
Infestation with head lice occurs quite commonly with children in the Primary age group. Thorough weekly checking of your child’s hair is proven to be the most effective way of keeping the “bugs” away. For more information about the prevention and treatment of head lice, please ask at the office for a leaflet or visit www.chc.org/bugbusting. This website gives plenty of really useful information about wet combing and “bug busting” techniques.
