Poetry and DT days.
On behalf of all pupils and staff I would like to say a big thank you to all the parents and helpers who came into school at the end of last term to support some of the exciting events planned to enrich our curriculum. The pupils’ smiles during the week truly reflected their enjoyment of the specially organised activities.

Outdoor clothing.
As the weather gets colder we are rapidly reminded of why the village green is often described as “Little Siberia”. As such we would like to stress the importance that all pupils bringing suitable clothing to school so they can enjoy their outdoor playtimes fully. We request that you ensure that your child / children have a warm coat, gloves, hat and appropriate footwear in school everyday. In order to reduce the incidents of lost clothing we also request that all clothing be named clearly.

Parents’ evening appointments for 11th and 12th November.
Timetables for meeting times with your child’s class teacher are displayed in the entrance hall. If you are unable to come into school to book an appointment, please do not hesitate to contact Carolyn by phone or email to make arrangements.
We look forward to being able to demonstrate our new and much improved website on the computers in the middle room during the evening.

Donations.
Before the holiday Mrs Warren and Mrs Davie worked hard with the children to prepare the raised bed for the winter season. They now kindly request any donations of bulbs and winter vegetables for new planting.

Internet Safety Evening at Thomas Keble School.
All Oakridge School parents have been invited to attend an information evening for parents at Thomas Keble School on Wednesday 25th November at 7pm. The session has been designed to provide parents with practical ideas and information on how to ensure children develop safe usage of the internet whilst at home or their friends’ houses. We have been informed that the session will be applicable for parents of both primary and secondary school aged children.

Finally, I am delighted to share with you some good news regarding attendance. For the academic year 2008/9 our school successfully met the attendance target set by the County of 96.1%. Well done everyone.
