Governor Vacancy

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s)

We have a vacancy for a parent governor which we need to fill as soon as possible.  Oakridge Parochial School has always aimed for a partnership with parents which undoubtedly brings great benefits to the children. One of the most significant ways you can help in promoting this aim is to volunteer to be a parent governor. The governing body’s main tasks are to support the school, ensure that pupils receive high quality education and plan for future development and improvement.

We are planning to open at 8.45am tomorrow. It is unlikely that we will be having PE coaching, but please ensure your child / children bring appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear so they can continue to enjoy outdoor play.

Many thanks

School Opening -Thursday 14th January 2010

Dear All

Road conditions into the village and down to the school continue to be poor. Attempts have been made to clear the path around the school but this has proved difficult due to continuing snow and sleet  throughout  the day.

However, the school is planning to be open tomorrow at 10.00am. The latest forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning is that there will be freezing conditions resulting in ice. We envisage that a later opening will give a chance for the roads to be clearer and safer for staff and pupils to travel on. The “phone tree” communication sytem will be used to confirm details in the morning.

We look forward to seeing all pupils tomorrow but remember please only travel if you feel it is safe for you and your family to do so.

Snow update

We did it! I would like to thank all pupils, parents and staff who safely made the journey to school today. Unfortunately, the snow that fell overnight had made the roads more treacherous than expected. Nevertheless, we are all pleased to be back and ‘up and running’.

Weather permitting we aim to open again tomorrow at 9.30am. Closures will continue to be communicated via the ‘phone tree’ system which has been updated today (Copy attached to printed version of this notice). Information regarding school closures can be found on www.gloucestershire.gov.uk using the school closures link. We are in the process of making arrangements in addition to use our own school website for updates and envisage that this will be in full operation by the end of the week.

Would all parents of pupils in Reception/KS1 please note that the visit to use the hall at Miserden on Wednesday has been postponed.

Yours sincerely

Dear all
I am very pleased to inform you that we are planning to reopen the school tomorrow Monday 11th January.
Today a team of Governors and volunteers helped to clear the paths and spread grit around the building. This afternoon the road from the crossroads down to the school was clear of snow and ice. The working party successfully cleared sufficient space around the bus stop for cars to drop pupils off and turn around. We request that his area is kept clear of parked cars.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow. However, please only make the journey if you feel it is safe for you to do so. We also request that all pupils bring warm clothes and layers as the school is very cold inside.
Obviously, if there is serious deterioration in conditions this evening the situation will need to be reviewed again in the morning. In the meantime let’s keep fingers crossed.
Thank you for all offers of help and support. The Governors, staff and myself are very appreciative of these and your continued understanding at this time.
