Another tremendously successful May Revels. Thank you and congratulations to all involved in its organisation. The weather co-operated (at least between setup and take-down!) and a fun afternoon was had by all. This year’s theme was the 1950s and visitors were treated to a Rock ‘n’ Roll dance performance by Key Stage 2 pupils. We hope to have a video available this week but for now, please enjoy a selection of photos courtesy of Mr Miles.

Children in Key Stage 2 enjoyed the first day of Spring by taking their sketch pads to Strawberry Banks.

And God said let there be light

By , March 13, 2011 9:42 pm

…and by 11.30, central networks had switched the power back on!

On Friday 11th March a special candle arrived at Oakridge School to celebrate the bicentennial of Church Schools in England. The candle is one of two that are travelling around all Church Schools in Gloucestershire this academic year. Each candle was first lit at the Cathedral leavers’ assembly last July and they will be reunited at the leaver’s assembly this year.

While a candle is at each school, a special assembly takes place and children are invited to write prayers, one of which will be selected to be added to the prayer book which will then continue its journey with a candle round remaining schools. If you would like to see the candle it is in the entrance foyer on the stairs. There is a also a picture below!

Due to our power failure on Friday morning, many of the prayers written reflected on the dependence on electricity in our modern day lives and how fortunate we are to have, on the whole a very reliable source of electricity.
