Cross Country – 10th November

The second Primary Schools Cross Country event is due to take place on Wednesday 10^th November at Stratford Park playing fields.

If your child wishes to participate they will as usual, need to be taken to and collected from Stratford Park. The first race is due to start at 3.45pm (slightly earlier than usual) and it is requested that you arrive at Stratford Park no earlier than 3.20pm. Therefore we suggest that any pupils wishing to participate are collected from school at 2.50pm. Parking will be solely in allocated bays.

As usual, the children will need to wear yellow t-shirts, their tracksuits and trainers (no spikes). Please ensure both spectators and competitors bring adequate warm clothing if it is cold weather.

If your child would like to take part please ask Carolyn for a slip and return to the school office no later than Monday 8^th November.

Harvest Festival – reminder

Just a reminder that on Sunday 10^th October we have been invited to attend the Harvest Family Service at St Bartholomew’s at 9.30 am. As well as taking part in the service we will be collecting gifts of foodstuffs to be donated to the Stroud Women’s Refuge and Cotswold Care Hospice.

Your donations will be gratefully received at school any day this week.

In order to help with the planning we would be most grateful if you could inform us if your child / children will be able to attend. If you could let Carolyn in the school office know it would be much appreciated.

Key Stage 2 visit to PGL.

The residential visit to PGL was a tremendous success and enjoyed by all. It is so rewarding to observe the children participating in the activities such a centre provides and to see them face challenges and often conquer fears. As usual the PGL staff were extremely professional and superb with the children. Feedback from the children was that the food was better than previous years.

Photos have been uploaded on to the school website. We also plan to produce a disc of photos for families who would like one. There will be a small charge for this to cover the cost of the discs. All pupils were a real credit to both the school and their families. I would also like to say a big thank you to Jason Williams, Miss Hayball and Mrs Warren for giving up their time at the weekend to support the visit.

Violin lessons.

Would your child be interested taking up the chance to play violin in September? Guilia Holland is in the process of investigating the possibility of organising group violin lessons with Ann Jenkins a teacher from the Gloucestershire music service. If you are interested please could you let Carolyn know.

KS2 PGL Residential – Parents Meeting

I am writing to inform you that we shall be holding a PGL information evening on Thursday 24th June at 6pm.

The aims of the meeting are

to give you a brief overview of what PGL is
tell you about what the children will be doing
explain how they are looked after and what they will need to take with them

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

I would be grateful if you could let the school office know if you are able to attend by Monday 21st June to give us an idea of numbers. It would be great to see as many of you as possible – especially if your child has not attended a residential visit before.
