Staff
Don’t be fooled! These are not actual photographs of our glorious team but impressions produced by pupils.
Mrs Austin-Harrison. Head Teacher.
“This is my sixth year of being the Head Teacher of Oakridge School. There are three big reasons why our School is a very special place.
1. Our pupils. They are happy, hardworking, love learning and take great pride in their school. I am lucky because I get to teach both classes.
2. Our team. We have an extremely enthusiastic, talented and friendly staff and governors. The parents and village community are supportive and enjoy helping the school.
3. Our location. It is beautiful – at playtime, we use the Village Green as our playground. We like to use our surroundings to enhance our learning so try to be outside as much as we can. The inside is superb too. We all enjoy ensuring that our classroom sare vibrant and stimulating, displaying the work our children produce.
I am married with two fluffy cats. I love running and have successfully completed two london marathons. The best time of the week for me is the friday morning achievment worship where we measure the ‘Smile of Excellence’. ”
Mrs Warren. KS1 Class Teacher.
“I teach the pupils in Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage. This is my seventh year of teaching at Oakridge School. I enjoy teaching all the subjects, but science, P.E. and Maths are especially my favourites. Oakridge School is a unique school to teach in. The setting is the best thing about it. We are able to take regular walks and enjoy many experiences out of the classroom in a natural environment. As I drive to work each day I watch the changes in seasons and it fills me with joy.
The children at Oakridge School are always keen and inquisitive with a natural curiosity about their school environment.”
Mrs J. Hayes-Holgate. KS1 Class Teacher.
“As my name is so long, I am known as Mrs. Hayes at school! I teach the KS1 class on a Monday and Tuesday, job-sharing with Mrs.Warren. My other responsibility at school is as literacy co-ordinator. I did my post-graduate teacher training course in Cheltenham, specialising in Foundation stage and KS1. Initially I worked at different local schools on a temporary basis, then got a permanent position teaching a Reception class in Stroud. After a break travelling, I came to work at Oakridge in 2001 to cover a maternity leave and never left as I loved it so much! I became part-time after having my first child. I am now a mother of 3 and so can empathise with other parents! Apart from my love of children, I also like to explore the world and walk in our beautiful countryside. At school, having studied history of art and other visual cultures for my degree, I love teaching art!.”
Mrs Wynter. KS1 Learning Support Worker.
“I am the learning support worker for Key Stage 1. I have been at Oakridge since September 2003. My main role is to support the Reception children settle into school life however I also have a lot of input with years 1 and 2. I am married to Andy and have three children, one at colleage and two at secondary school, a dog and a cat.
Away from school I enjoy walking, travel abroad and all aspects of family life. I thoroughly enjoy my job at Oakridge especially working with a fantastic team of staff, children and parents.”
Mrs Gray. KS1 Class Teacher.
“I am currently providing maternity cover, one day each week for Mrs Hayes. My eldest Son started at Oakridge in 2007 and I have been helping voluntarily ever since. Before having children I taught in a variety of schools in Gloucestershire but am delighted to have joined my Son at Oakridge. My highlights at school include the science day and welly walks! I’m very much looking forward to my younger sons joining the school next september and returning to my more usual role of parent helper.”
Miss Hayball. KS2 Class Teacher.
“My name is Miss Hayball. I teach the children in Key Stage two. This is my second year of teaching at Oakridge. I really enjoy working in such a fantastic setting, with children who are so enthusiastic and keen to learn. I like teaching all subjects, especially mathematics, music and art. We make the most of our beautiful surroundings in learning across the curriculum. When I’m not at Oakridge I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I love visiting art galleries and exhibitions and recently played the Ukulele at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the 2009 BBC Proms ‘Events for Every One.’”
Mrs McCrodden. KS2 Learning Support Worker.
“I share the Key Stage 2 Learning Support Worker duties with Mrs Schofield. I first came to Oakridge in January 2004 and have really loved being here supporting the children in ALL subjects. Our pupils are especially super at Art and Drama and I particularly love working with them in those areas. Our very talented Class Teacher Miss Hayball produces glorious displays for our walls with the work we do and always makes our classroom look exciting. I live in Bisley with my husband, two boys and two labrador dogs. When not at Oakridge I like going to the cinema, reading and travelling with my family.”
Mrs Schofield. KS2 Learning Support Worker.
“I live in Bussage with my husband and two grown-up children. I enjoy walking, cooking, sewing and all kinds of music. I can share some of these pastimes with the children at Oakridge. Our school is a happy, friendly, place to work and learn and we have the best singers in England!”
Mrs Westerby, School Administrator
“I have been at Oakridge since January 2004 in my role as School Administrator. I took over the role from my Mum who retired from the school after 34 years! I am an ex-governor and also an ex-pupil. My three children have also attended the school. My job is very varied and no two days are ever the same. The best thing about being at Oakridge is seeing the children grow up and develop their learning and skills. ”
Kerry Hawkins, Lunchtime Supervisor
“I started working as a lunchtime supervisor in 2007. Not only does this role provide the opportunity to support the school and teachers, it also allows me a welcome respite from my everyday routine of running a small jewellery business. My Son entered Foundation Stage at Oakridge School in 2005 and is currently in Year 4. Over the years I have been involved in many of the activities and annual events organised by the school that have been enjoyed by the children, parents and the local community.
I am actively seeking access to the NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course. To support my career development I have been voluntarily providing assistance to teaching Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 at Oakridge School. I am very proud to be a member of staff at Oakridge Parochial School and enjoy being a part of the living, learning, laughing team.”
Ally Schofield. Lunchtime Supervisor.
“I live in Bussage with my family. In my spare time I enjoy writing poetry, singing and spending quality time with my family and friends. The best thing about working at Oakridge is being able to watch the school and its children thrive.”
